16 Detroit area restaurants have been awarded by Wine Spectator in its 2026 Restaurant Awards for being among the world’s best restaurants for wine.


In total, 39 restaurants in Michigan have been honored for being among the world’s best restaurants for wine,Wine Spectator just revealed its 2026 Restaurant Awards, which recognizes 4,012 dining destinations for their excellence in wine service.

“The restaurant industry is rapidly transforming as diners become more selective about when, how and what they drink,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Chairman and CEO, Wine Spectator. “As wine drinkers grow more mindful, restaurants are adapting with creative wine programs.”

Launched in 1981, the Restaurant Awards recognize the highest standards in restaurant wine service across three levels - the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award - with 2,083, 1,830, and 99 winners respectively this year.
