About the event

For the opening night of HOUR Detroit’s SAVOR Dinner Series, Executive Chefs Adam Curry of Adelina and Christian Vasquez of Hiroki-san come together for a collaborative five-course dinner inspired by Itameshi (イタ飯).

Itameshi combines ita, shorthand for Italian, with meshi, an informal Japanese word for food or a meal. While the term literally means “Italian food,” it has become associated with Japan’s distinctive interpretation of Italian cooking — Italian dishes and techniques expressed through Japanese ingredients, flavors and culinary sensibilities.

That relationship provides the inspiration for Adam and Christian’s SAVOR collaboration.

Drawing from Adam’s Italian culinary perspective and Christian’s Japanese culinary perspective, the chefs explore the natural overlap between the two cuisines while creating their own contemporary interpretation of Itameshi.

Rather than dividing the menu and alternating dishes, Chef Adam and Chef Christian are creating every course together, allowing Italian and Japanese influences to meet within each plate.

The result is one…
